We all know that being skilled in photoshop needs continual exercises and patience. If we are confident and dare to try, good work is half well done. Now come with me and follow steps below, let’s make a sparkling three-dimensional crystalline f together and have fun!.
Step 1
Press CTRL+N to create an image, 797*1024 pixels. Click OK. Open the image below and move it to the canvas of the new image with a move tool. Double click on the background layer in the layers palette, and rename it base map.
Step 2
Set your foreground color to red. Then choose the pen tool and press shape layer button of the toolbar options. Now draw a f-like shape as shown in the picture, and rename it shape 1. Set the shape 1 layer opacity to 100%(press 0).
Step 3
Click the add a layer style and then a menu of layer style pop up. Press the stroke on the left of the menu and then hide path you can see the image as shown below.
Step 4
Duplicate shape 1 to copy of the shape 1. Delete the copy’s layer style and set fill to 100%. Use direction keys to move a little and you can see the image as shown below.
Step 5
Add a layer mask for copy of the shape 1, set foreground color as black, choose brush tool and set suitable size and opacity of the brush. Paint in the layer mask to make sure that it is translucent at both ends and the right sides. After this step is done, you will see the image as shown below.
Step 6
Switch to the path panel and double click mask of the shape 1. Save the path as path 1 in the pop-up dialogue box and switch back to the layer panel.
Press Ctrl+Alt+T to start free transform and duplicate the control box. Use the direction key "→" once and "↓" twice. Press Enter to confirm.
Press Shift+Ctrl+Alt+T several times and you can see the image as shown below.
Step 7
Choose the path selection tool and delete all the paths except the lowest one. Select the layer base map. Click the button of create new filling or adjustments layer and you can see a menu pop up. Select solid color and then set the color as black in the dialogue box. Press Enter to quit the dialogue box and get color fill 1. Set the layer opacity to 0%.
Next click add layer style, select stroke in the pop-up menu, and click OK.
Step 8
Set the foreground color as white. Choose the line tool, select shape layer in the toolbar options and set thickness to 2px. Paint straight lines during angles as shown below and rename the layer shape 2.
Step 9
Choose layers from color fill 1 to copy of the shape 1, press Ctrl+G to unit them into a group and rename it outline.
According to all the steps above, with the function of shape tool, add layer style, add layer mask, duplicate layer, color fill and setting layer properties, we can make another solid outline of f. There are images related below.
Step 10
Choose the layer base map and the pen tool, select path button in the toolbar options and paint on the right side of f as shown in the image.
Step 11
Click the button of create new filling or adjustments layer, select gradient in the pop-up menu and set the dialogue box as shown in the image.
And then change the layer mode to darken.
Step 12
Duplicate gradient 1 and get copy of gradient 1. Change its layer mode to normal, and use brush tool and layer mask to make it translucent as shown in the image.
Step 13
Duplicate copy of gradient 1 to copy of gradient 2. Select edit→transform→flip horizontal and flip vertical, move it to the left side of the image and press enter to confirm. The effect is shown in the image below.
Change the layer mode to screen in order to increase the level of brightness.
Step 14
According to the measures written above, make the decorative pattern behind the f by using the function of brush tool, shape tool, duplicate layer, add layer mask, layer mode and layer style. when the step is done, we finally finished this image as shown below, enjoy!
