As we all know, keeping practice is necessary. And we should try other kinds of paintings as well, because different paintings practice will make us accomplish our good ideas with ease. Therefore this tutorial is given for you with another style and process of making realistic images.

In this tutorial, we will make a beautiful fashionable cell phone called Blackberry with PS. It contains many details on how to use various tools and deal with realistic expressions. The final image is shown below. It’s very tempting, isn’t it? Let’s begin!

1. Create a new document with about 1000*1400 pixels of size and a black background. Choose the rectangle tool to draw a rectangle of 600*1000 pixels.

Then select the direct selection tool and alter anchor points until you reach the shape as shown below. The delete anchor point tool may be used in shaping.

2. We have gotten its main shape already, and next step we need to do is setting its layer style to add some steel effects to it. The detailed procedures are shown below.

When the step is done, you will get the image like this:

3. Draw Blackberry’s screen. Use gradient overlay and inner shadow once again.

Add highlight effect in the outline given by the pen tool. The outline is shown in the image below.

4. Make the circle button, and we need to use some special gradient magnitudes.

5. Use the rectangle tool and the convert point tool to make a shape as shown below, and set its color as deep grey (#131313).

Select the rectangular marquee tool to create two 5px wide rectangular marquees. They are symmetrical to the circle. Click add vector mask and press Ctrl+I to invert the mask.

Set the layer style and add a drop shadow with 0 distance, 90% opacity and 25px size. Also add an inner glow as shown below.

6. Copy this layer, delete the copy’s mask and layer style. Change its color as white and move it under the original layer.

Delete the top two anchor points with the delete anchor point tool while keep the bottom curve.

Use the convert point tool to adjust its path as shown below.

7. Use the pen tool to draw the bottom of the cell phone. Duplicate and paste the layer style to add a shadow and a gradient effect.

Copy this layer, change the copy’s color as white, and blend as multiply. Edit radial gradient and move it a little.

8. Choose your favorite font. Every letter needs to be exactly placed on its button. Some figures like the backspace, back and OK are exist beforehand, you can get these in dingbats font.

9. Duplicate the first layer. Clear its style and apply a simple gradient from black to white. Change the opacity to 70%.

10. Create a mask and a new layer. Then select the ellipsoid marquee tool to tow a circle as shown in the image below. Set the mask color as black.

Choose an image to be the background. And add a shadow to the cell phone.
