We have learned many kinds of skills in the photoshop environment, however we seldom get touch with one of the most powerful applications—- mouse portrait. In fact, we will do a lot of work with it. Like in today’s tutorial, we will learn to draw a fantastic Chinese painting with such a tool instead of the traditional way by using Chinese brush. Here is the final product. Now let’s begin!
1. Build a new document with a A4 size and white color background. Then create a new layer with the name draft. Now choose the brush tool with a suitable size to outline the draft of the plum blossom.
2. Then create a new layer with the name branch. Then choose the brush set panel to select the brush tip shape(in the following picture 1) with 0 angle and 100% roundness and 5% space between. Then choose the flatness and the diplex brush (in the following picture 2) with 1038-pixel diameter, 81% space between and 0% diffuse.
3. With the suitable-size brush and black foreground color. Then drag the mouse to draw the thickest part of the branch. Then use the pen tool to outline the slender part.
4. Choose the slender part layer and execute the stroke path, and then choose the pencil option. Then complete the portrait of the slender part and name it the outline. In the outline layer, we should portrait the shape of flowers and buds with the pen tool. Then choose the sharp-angled brush to draw the receptacle.
5. Then create a flower layer and make it on the other layers. Then choose the soft-angled brush with red foreground color to paint the color of the flowers. And you can use the burn tools and dodge tool to add some arrangement effect. Choose yellow color to draw the flower heart with soft-angled brush, 65-pixel diameter and 0% hardness.
6. In order to make it more like a Chinese painting, we will adjust the outline of the plum. We choose the soft-angled brush with 50% opaqueness and black foreground to portrait them again. Next, we create a new layer with white foreground color, then execute the filter gallery step. We choose the burlap effect with 145 zoom effect, 4 highlight, upper light and opposition. Then open the hue/saturation panel to choose the dye option with 24 hue degree, 33 saturation values and 54 brightness. Merge all the layer at last and we make it!
