In this tutorial, we will learn to make another kind of fruits, which is called Hami melon. Besides, we will continue to learn skills about the pen tools and some modification tool to polish the picture. We will finally see that we have commanded lots of skills of producing a picture after a series of tutorials. Now let’s get down to the business. And the following is the impression drawing.
As the tutorial is a bit complicated, we will divide them to two parts.
The Hami melon:
1. Create a 600*480 size document with white color background, calling it the skin layer. Draw an oval with the rectangular tool in the center with light green color.
2. Save the district as alpha 1. Cancel the choice and double click the skin layer to choose the inner glow, change the mixed model to multiply, with 85% opaqueness, 8-pixel size, dark green.
3. Create a new layer on the background layer. Merge the two layers and outline the needless part on the upper side of the figure and delete them.
4. Modify the left side of the skin with the eraser tool and then smear with burn tool and add 2% noise.
5. Enter the channel and create alpha 2 with 50% grey color and 10% noise, and execute crystallize with 15 pixels at the same time. Then adjust the color gradient with CTRL + L to drag the slider to the right end.
6. Choose the black part with magic wood. Then come back to the layer and create layer 1 on the background with the grey color. Then cancel the choice and load in the alpha 1 district and execute spherize with 60 quantity. Do the same step again with CTRL + F, then choose the opposition and delete it, cancel the choice at last.
7. Create layer 2 and load in the skin district with fulfilling the green color. Then cancel the choice and move several pixels to the nether part. Choose layer 1 and execute the same step, then load in layer 2 and choose the opposition and delete it.
8. Create a new layer called flesh and load in the skin district and fulfil orange color. Move the district to the upper side a little and make about 7-pixel feather, choose opposition and delete, twice.
9. Decrease the pressure of the left side of the flesh with eraser. Add about 1.5-pixel noise. Create a new layer with 50% grey color and execute sponge effect with 1-pixel size, 2-pixel smoothness. Load in the skin district and choose the opposition and delete it. Then convert the mixed model to the multiply with 70% opaqueness. Merge the two layers.
10. Create a new layer and reset the color disk, then execute the clouds effect. Then find edges to deepen the black color. Then convert the mixed model to the color burn mode and lower the transparency a little. Execute the downstair merge with CTRL + G.
11. Outline the upper side of the flesh. Smear with the burn tool and dodge tool to set the highlight and shadow of the melon.
12. Then blur the edge of the melon. Create a new layer and draw some white spots as the reflection.
