Photoshop Tutorial: Create a Beautiful Fan Surrounded by Magic Shapes, Runes and Plants

This is a tutorial from Photoshop Lady by CorneliaMladenova.

In this Photoshop tutorial I am going to show you all steps taken to turn a pair of wooden mallets into a gorgeous looking fan surrounded by magic shapes, runes and plants.
To achieve the final result we shall practice and apply lots of transformations, Displacement Map, layer styles, actions and also dry brush smudge used to make amazing scattered effects and flying debris.
To implement successfully all steps of this tutorial, firstly we need to download the source image in high resolution from here.

Step 1

Open the source image Wooden Malets. Click twice on the Background to turn it into an editable layer and switch it off for now as we won’t need the original source in the following steps.
Create a new layer on top of the Layers palette and change its name to Background Gradient.
Go to your Tool bar and change Foreground Color to # a4b3b8 and Background Color to # 899496.
Select Gradient Tool, choose Linear type, Foreground to Background gradient and draw it from bottom to top of the canvas.
While Background Gradient layer is selected, go to Layer, Group Layers and call the new group Background.

Step 2

Create a new layer called Light Spectrum and place it above Background Gradient layer in Background group.
Take Gradient Tool again, but this time choose radial Light Spectrum gradient. Draw it from bottom to top of the canvas and when ready, change the layer’s Blend Mode to Multiply.

Step 3

Take Lasso Tool and select random shapes from the background of the Wooden Mallets source photo. Arrange the selected portions to cover the background leaving a small distance between each of them. Merge all layers consisting selected portions of the mallets background and name the new layer Liquify as in the next step we are going to apply that filter. Place it above Light Spectrum layer.

Now there is a good news for you that you can also make it with the help of the composition skills, that is to say, you can use some other original elements to make up your final picture. 1. Build a 400*600, 72 pixels canvas, and drag material 1 into it. To be concrete, cut the fish at the top left corner with the keys Ctrl + Shift + J, and reduce the left part, and then put it at the bottom right corner.

2. Do some basic beautification such as buffing and color toning, and cut out the body with the pen tool to drag it to the canvas. Add a white mask and then use a black-color brush to wipe carefully below the body in order to make the composition more easily.

3. Add the fish material that we have already cut into the white mask and erase the head part, the effect is as follows:

Photoshop Tutorial: How To Adjust Bright Green Color To The Scenic Figure

In this tutorial, the color in it is not that ideal for the weather problem. So we will adjust the whole color in the picture and change to vivid green color. We will also add some complementary color to it. Here is the comparison of the two pictures. Let’s get down to business now.

1. Open the material figure and set up the selective color adjustment layer. Set the parameters: fot the red color: red +18%, the others 0%; for the yellow color: green +14%, red -24%, yellow +12% and black 0%; for the green color: green +3%, red -38%, yellow +14% and black 0%. All is absolute one.

2. Copy the layer and change the opaqueness to 40%. Then choose the highlight electoral district with the keys CTRL + ALT + ~. Create a new layer and drag the gradual color of the sky part from the top to the bottom with gradient tool. Then convert the layer to the multiply mode with opaqueness of 70%. Add layer mask and erase the needless part with black-color brush.

3. Outline the following electoral district and feather it with 45 pixels and set up the color balance adjustment layer: the color gradation is -80, +23, +100, middle tone.

4. Create a curve adjustment layer and set the following values:

5. Create a selective color adjustment layer and set the parameters: for the yellow color: green -72%, red -8%, yellow +100 and black -14%; for the green color: green +6%, red 0%, yellow +43%, and black -4%. All is absolute one.

6. Create a color balance layer and set the values: the color gradation is -14, +9, -8, middle tone.

7. Set up the selective color layer and adjust the red (green to -17%)and green (green to +39%)color. Then adjust the whole color in the picture and here comes the impression drawing.
